TEACHING ACROSS PROFICIENCY LEVELS

TEACHING BEGINNING LEVELS

Techniques are used in this level,  for example group and pair activities are excellent techniques as long as the students are structured and clearly defined with specific objectives. With those techniques students will learn easier because techniques help them to develop more skills;also, the will appreciate to practice a new language. In this level, the teacher is the center of attention;hence, English needs to be clearly articulated in order that students can understand what the teacher is explaning in the class. Receptive and productive creativity are really important in this level because students can be creative only within the confines of a highly controlled repertoire of language.

TEACHING INTERMEDIATE LEVELS

Student-student interaction can take place in pairs, small groups, and whole-class activity in this kind of level. The interaction between students it is really important because it helps to develop more ideas, comments,etc. Students will feel comfortable in the educational environment. Also, students are encouraged to ask questions, or make comments; for that reason, the teacher has to allow sufficient participation between students and in that way students will understand about the different activities that the teacher is applying.

TEACHING ADVANCED LEVELS

For this level students have the opportunity to talk about all the things they have learned during their learning process. Some different techniques, like role-plays, debates scanning and skimming reading material are the techniques that students can get when they are in this important level. An important point about teaching advanced level is the age and proficiency variables because they are two important issues to incorporate into any attempt to plan and conduct language lessons. So, students need to take into account the different goals that they have planned during their learning process.

TEACHING ACROSS AGE LEVELS

It is really important when someone wants to teach because he or she has to know very well the different ages that the students have and in that way the teacher will apply some different activities according to the ages. Hence, teaching across age levels helps teachers to develop more techniques and activities for the students.

TEACHING CHILDREN

The activities that the teachers give their students should be designed to catch their immediate interest. It means the teacher has to make lessons interesting, lively and fun because in this case children tend to get bored very fast. So, it is really important that the teacher can develop new activities or change his methodology in order to have better results in the classroom.
Another point is that children must have all five senses stimulated, this is interesting because in that way children learn very easy.

TEACHING ADULTS

The teacher has to know very well what kinds of activities he can apply in the classroom when he is teaching to adults. The teacher has to understand that he can not treat adults like children(calling them kids, using caretaker talk or talking down to them) because teachers have to treat adults like adults.
Students adults are always higly motivated and the most important thing is that they are clear about their goals.

TEACHING TEENS:

Teaching teenagers is a stage very difficult because teens want to do all the things they want. It can be difficult to create a positive learning environment in which adolescents feel happy, secure, valued and motivated to learn. The reasons for this are many because teenagers are going through many physical emotional changes, including changes in their brains. Also, if they want to go to classes, it may be because it is where the rest of their friends are.So they feel motivated by them.  To sum up, the teacher has to take into consideration what activities he or she can apply in the classroom and the benefits for the teenagers.

COMMUNITY LANGUAGE LEARNING METHOD ACTIVITIES

WHAT I LIKED FROM MY PRESENTATION?

Well, I think working with Community Language Learning has been really interesting because now I understand how being a teacher is difficult. On the other hand, I liked how I could develop my skills in front of my classmates. My presentation was not perfect, but I could feel satisfied because my classmates showed their attention and participation into the activity that I gave them. So, it was really important for me because I did my best, and I think the purpose of Community Language Learning is developing speaking and listening. At the end, my classmates took into consideration, and they did a good job working as a group. Finally, it was a good experience for me because I had some communication with my classmates, and they could undestand the purpose of the activity.

WHAT I COULD HAVE IMPROVED?

I think, I could have improved in my presentation asking some questions at the end of the activity. Asking about how my classmates felt with the activity that I showed, and the way that I developed it too. Also, I could have spoken loudly, but I think at the end I did it very well.

DID I FEEL COMFORTABLE?

Firstable, I felt nervous because I did not know if my classmates could help me with the activity, but I thought that I had prepared myself, and everything will be ok. Then, when I started with the activity I felt better because I could manage the attention of my group, and the most important thing that I got the purpose of the activity, it means my classmates worked as a nice group. I felt satisfied because the different groups followed directions from me, and it was perfect because I could catch their attention, participations, and they felt in a good environment.

WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES MY OTHER CLASSMATES PRESENTED?

Everybody understands in a different way; for that reason, my classmates did an excellent job because they presented different activities to improve in a classroom. Also, all the activities were interesting, and they had a main idea, that´s why everybody could interact with each other. This is important because it demostrates the cooperation between classmates, and all the things we can do in a classroom. The different activities were good because we learned many things about them. We had the time to develop our activities, and the opportunity to show how we can perform in a classroom with the methods according to the activity types.

COMMUNITY LANGUAGE LEARNING

WHAT I LIKED FROM MY METHOD

Well, I liked this method because I learned that teachers and students need to have a good relationship between them and in that way students will learn the target language. That´s why the teacher works like a counselor because he or she will be the guide for the learning experience of the students. In my point of view, this is a good method because it allows the commnication between teachers and students. Also, when students don´t feel in a comfortable atmosphere, the teacher has the opportunity to take some time to talk about the language learning experience. If they feel satisfied about the activity types that the teacher is applying in the community or if they do not agree about something that the teacher is giving. So i liked it because this method has good activity types like, group work, reflective listening and transcription. It is a good option to apply in a community language learning.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE FROM MY METHOD

One thing I did not like about this method was that it only works with twelve persons. So the teacher who is teaching the target language has to consider to have a small group. But, in general I think it is a good method because it develops a good communication among class members and it gives the opportunity to improve the target language in the community.

WHAT I UNDERSTOOD FROM THE OTHER METHOD

Tasked- Based Instruction I think is an interesting method because it helps us with the different real situations in life. Also, it is a good option to develop this method in class because it will be an important tool for the teacher and in that way he will apply different tasks to improve the language into the classroom. So, the students will not feel afraid about participating in class or having an educational relationship with each other. For that reason, the teacher has to know about what kind of activities he can apply in the class and the way his students are learning. :)

                                                 

TEACHERS WHO LOVE TEACHING, TEACH CHILDREN TO LOVE LEARNING.

Well, this quote is really interesting because if we want to teach in some years, We must be prepared, and we have to have the ability to teach not only children if not teenagers or adults if we want, so we have the obligation that people who are learning, love it because effective teachers have to understand the content that they are teaching and how to explain that content in a way that their students understand  and how they can apply in life.

If we are good teaching, we have to demonstrate our students the best way that they can enjoy learning, maybe using different strategies in class for example, we can use technology or new educational tools. I think acting like a teacher is a really nice experience because we can help children not only in their studies, if not in their personal lives. For that reason we have to improve our education to form excellent students, achieving good goals in life.

I think teachers can teach all the things that they know, also if they accepted this beautiful profession, they have to have patience, love, and charisma to educate students. Having those important elements, students can feel in a good environment , and in this way they will feel comfortable, at the same time they will be learning, improving their knowledge in different areas, and they can enjoy it. So a teacher takes an important place in education.

Teachers who love teaching have to have control in the class because students eventually get bored , so they have to know how keep calm in the environment, also they have to look for many methods to apply in class, teaching in a good way, practicing with the classmates, doing homework assignments, sometimes having fun, and all those things that the students can take for their benefits because the idea is that the teacher takes an important role with his students.

To sum up, if we love teaching, we have the opportunity to share our ideas, our thoughts, and the things that we know with others. This is great because we can improve the educational situation in our country, developing new techniques, and methods to create new opportunities for the students, and with this they will feel comfortable knowing what they can do in their studies, and obviously how they can love learning. Having gotten this we will see how to be a teacher is amazing, dedicating our time with other people.
